Logo design for the Atlantic Geopark. The Atlantic Geopark is aspiring to be recognized and integrated into the “UNESCO World Geoparks” network. The territory of implementation, which corresponds to 6 municipalities in Portugal (Cantanhede, Figueira da Foz, Mealhada, Mira, Montemor-o-Velho and Penacova), has a chronological line covering a period of about 500 million years of geo-history, based on a network of Geosites of national and international importance as well as on the existence of a network of cultural resources of remarkable importance, such as the Castle of Montemor-o-Velho, the Stone Museum, the Museum of the Territory of Gândara and the Mata do Buçaco.
The branding is based on the lines of the Atlantic coast, on ammonite fossils (present in the region) and on the oldest flowering plants that appeared in the territory and resembled today's magnolias.
The flower design has 6 petals that serve as a reference to the 6 municipalities. The design also appropriates 3 colors associated with each of the aspects that need to be highlighted.
This logo will be applied to all Geopark communication material.
