Subjective Alphabet

Andrei Alecsandru Pantea

Subjective Alphabet is an on-going series I develop through a variety of mediums, from analogue to digital. In 2021 I started a species of posters based on concepts and elements deriving from nature and psychology, visually relating day to day contents I encounter.

The series is a species of personal diary in the shape of posters. Recollecting affective memories, hoarding vegetal elements and capturing through photographs certain moments, this series is recomposing situations and emotional atmospheres.

The method of installing the posters considers the architectural value of the space (old buildings or interiors, unfinished brick textures, dim lights) hang from the ceiling and scattered on the floor.

Using a flashlight, the visitor is invited to discover bits and pieces of moments, whilst accompanied by a specific soundscape, guided by the alphabetical order. Based on typographic experiments, abstract compositions as well as figurative elements, the compositions are looking for cutting through frames, disparate elements brought together by the subjectivity of experience.

Submerging the audience is a audio-visual realm, the typographic and photographic traces are indicators, clues, in a visual narrative open to interpretation. The main guidance in understanding the path in space is given by the concepts and terms selected, which are references for the images depicted.
