For this project, we were given a house plan in which we were allowed to change only the layout of the interior space and a fictitious family that would move into it, from where we had to create a client profile and an interior that matches their personality.
We received a family of almost 3, composed of Kim, Saul, and their little baby who is on the way. Kim is a successful lawyer and is a typical workaholic. Her ambition and determination are the reason she represents some high-profile clients and she usually leaves the courthouse as a winner.
As a perfectionist, she likes the things done her way and has always a clear idea in mind. She is independent and doesn’t need or want anyone to tell her what to do. Even though she loves spending time with her husband and her friends she needs time for herself to isolate herself and relax in the bathtub or with a book in front of the fireplace sipping tea.
Saul is a creative type and works as a music producer. He enjoys his work and always puts a lot of effort and passion into it. Being an extrovert and a social person, he has lots of friends that fulfill his life.
He enjoys inviting them for dinner and drinks or to listen to one of his beloved vinyl records. Kim is his daily inspiration and he relies on her most of the time. Most of the time he‘s on the road for work-related reasons but now that Kim is expecting their first child he wants to spend more time at home.
The challenge with this project was mixing their very different personalities in a harmonious way, creating an eclectic interior with a mix of pop art, mid-century and modern. The ground floor is really a representative space for this idea, with Saul’s studio which is very bright and happy, the living room which has more of Kim’s favorite furniture and styles, and the dining area which is a mix of both, with a light marble table and dark blue, almost neon chairs.
This was a 2 group project, but the renders that I am providing are made 100% by me.
