Elena Gómez de Valcárcel is a designer born in Spain and based in London. She graduated in Film and TV (Murcia, Spain) and while working as a TV producer in advertising companies she started to develop an interest for design, and decided to move to London to study ceramics.

In the summer of 2017, she graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA in Ceramic Design ( Product Design Programme) Her work revolves around emotions. She loves to explore the emotional link formed through interaction with a product, and she tries to create the perfect balance between function and appearance.

Her last project was directed towards a new type of user: children. She is very keen to make products for children that include ceramics, a material that most children are not familiar with but raises the importance of the product.

They must take care of it, they can learn from it, and they can play with at the same time. Her main material is clay, because for her clay has a presence, it can be imbued with character, and with it, she can tell stories.

However, she has a lot of curiosity that seems to never be satisfied, and like to experiment with new materials, textures and new types of production, always looking for opportunities to explore multiple design aspects.

After her graduation, she participated in different group exhibitions, such as New Designer 2017, and Flock´17 at Gx Gallery in London. And her work has also been selected for exhibit in Creative Unions at Lethaby Gallery as part of London Design Festival 2017, and in the British Ceramics Biennial 2017 as part of Fresh, an exhibition that presents the best of the new generation of talented graduates from the UK.
