Henri Vanhaerents is a first-year Product Design master student enrolled at LUCA School of Arts Genk, Belgium (C-Mine Campus). As a designer, he has been intrigued by the modern tools enabling us to explore digital aesthetics in materialized objects.

Aiming to not only break the boundaries between digital and physical creations but also by introducing these techniques to the field of design or inside the gallery space. By doing so, Henri keeps questioning the border between art and object design.

Over the last years - both through his academic career and his own personal research and by navigating through different design processes, he was able to explore his creativity in all its assets.

As a student with an oeuvre still in the making, he has a clear goal of taking part in the creation of an exciting, but also sustainable future. The prevailing focus of his research lies in bundling digital and physical creations with a variety of tools.

Combining modern crafts like 3D modelling, and 3D printing with more traditional techniques like sewing. Researching new tools like AI and exploring the creative side of this machine is part of that development.

Henri is intrigued by the ambiguity that results from mixing crafts with modern tools and their ability to bundle both physical and digital aspects into the same creation.
