Founded in 1896, the Bilbao Philharmonic Society is a private concert hall that offers one of the leading chamber music seasons in Europe. Its concert hall, built by the Toulouse architect Fidel Iturría in 1904, with a capacity of 930 seats, is one of the five oldest chamber halls in Europe and one of the most recognized for its beauty and acoustics.
In addition to its season of classical music concerts, the Philharmonic Society organizes various activities in order to attract new audiences and disseminate the values of classical music in society, such as musical gatherings, meetings with artists and trips musicals. Likewise, it publishes a quarterly Bulletin with articles and interviews about the composers and performers heard in its concerts and maintains agreements with conservatories and music schools in order to provide local music students with access to the concerts of their season. .
