Vive La France!

Helena Pallarés

The projects that I want to present you is called "Vive la France" and it's a tribute to some of my favorite french figures of the 20th century. This is a serie of portraits made with a special technique which blends handmade drawing and handmade collage.

The main features are entirely drawn in pencil (eyes, mouth, nose, ears) while the rest of the portrait is made with paper cuttings, reproducing the form of the hair, the clothes and other details.

The result is a 2D texturized illustration completely handmade in a very clean and minimaliste style.

Helena is a Spanish illustrator currently working and living in Paris. She graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Castilla la Mancha after studying Graphic Design in her hometown Zaragoza.

Having finished her university studies, she moved to Madrid and she started to work as a freelance illustrator for magazines, publishing houses and graphic design projects. She works with the technique of collage to create oneiric images using papers, textures and clippings from old magazines…
