When my mother was a child, she lived in an astonishing small village located in northwest Iran. She had a great and happy time but unfortunately, she was forced to marry at an early age and had to forget her childish desires like other minors in her country.

Actually, my mother spent her childhood as a spouse and she had to take on the burden of responsibilities. Because of her early marriage, she encountered severe difficulties, nevertheless, my mother found hope and was full of vitality again only when she was expecting her first baby.

Having children was a great motivation for being stronger to make a better life. In the midst of all the hardships of her life, my mother sometimes made dolls that in her mind each doll achieves her own unfulfilled dreams.

This illustration project is a true story based on my mother’s life, in fact, this is a critique of child marriage matter.

My interest in art is rooted in my adolescence. One of my sisters is a painter, and another one is a writer; my mother used to do handicrafts and she made very special dolls that were full of colors and textures.

Growing up in this atmosphere, I became acquainted with art. Besides, living in the mountainous city Ardabil located in the northwest of Iran with spectacular nature and exquisite handicrafts had always kept my interest in art alive.
