My interest in art is rooted in my adolescence. One of my sisters is a painter, and another one is a writer; my mother used to do handicrafts and she made very special dolls that were full of colors and textures.

Growing up in this atmosphere, I became acquainted with art. Besides, living in the mountainous city Ardabil located in the northwest of Iran with spectacular nature and exquisite handicrafts had always kept my interest in art alive.

Spending the vast majority of my life in the midst of fabulous meadows and mountains, decorating our house with the glamorous traditional carpets and earthenware jars that had been painted with delicacy, all of these could significantly impact my choice; hence I chose art to continue my academic and professional path.

Therefore, I took the entrance exam for universities that majored in art and I was accepted into an art university in Tehran, Iran. This period was the bedrock of my life because not only did I get the training I needed to become an art teacher in an art high school, but I also entered the art world professionally.

I continued my studies and I was able to obtain BA and MA in Visual communication. Currently, I am an MFA Design student at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts, and also I am a PTL at MGSA teaching Design to undergraduate students.

As an artist, human being issues have always been important to me, through my life experiences, I have come to the realization that I cannot be content just with creating forms.

Hence, I have always striven to incorporate concepts and meaning into my artworks. I endeavor to express diverse socio-political and cultural matters and to convey an important concept to the audiences to make them think and step forward to create a world full of peace and tranquility.

In fact, I am a content-oriented and interdisciplinary artist with a focus on Design, and women's issues, freedom of expression, child marriage, and world peace are the basis of my artworks.

I would like to mention that I have a nickname “Sanaz” and I usually use this name instead of my official name.
